Specifications grading is a method developed by Linda Nilson involving an alternative to the traditional points and/or percentages grading system. “Specs” grading is intended to help teachers save time and avoid conflict with students, and to help students receive more detailed feedback and clearer, initial expectations. This will include a brief overview of what specs grading is and why it’s effective, and detail how the presenters adapted this method in undergraduate and graduate courses. Participants should bring a current assignment description/rubric (e.g., a paper or project) with them to the session as a practice piece.
Bookings are closed for this event.
